Macro Lens/Slide Capture project

So, I have been working on a way to quickly image a collection of 126 format slides that my father-in-law took on an LDS mission to Rarotonga in the 60’s. I’ve had them for a while and just haven’t been able to dedicate the time to scan them all one-by-one on a flatbed scanner. Anyway, I decided to throw together a homemade slide scanner/duplicator. I’ll be posting some more photos later, but here’s a quick preview of the macro lens (pvc pipe for the extension tube with a 127 mm 4×5 lens). So far the results have been awesome. I should be able to crank through the 300+ slides in a couple hours. The image above is a shot of some sort of mineral deposits on our kitchen window taken with the macro lens. Right now it’s set to capture at a 1 to 1 ratio for the slides. Below you can see the lens and one of the slides I captured in the test run this afternoon.

A Flippin’ Sweet Christmas for all.

Merry christmas everyone. This is my crew from work in our christmas card that we passed around the company. Pictured (L to R) is Casey Hyer, Me, Jen Wheatley, and Dirk Widdison. I would have posted this sooner, but I’ve been real busy training to be a cage fighter.
